علمت مصادر «عكاظ» أن إدارة النادي الأهلي متمسكة باستمرار الحارس الدولي السنغالي إدوارد ميندي مع الفريق الأول لكرة القدم حتى نهاية عقده الممتد إلى عام 2028، مؤكدةً عدم وجود أي نية للتفريط في خدمات قائد الفريق خلال الفترة القادمة.
وبحسب المصادر، فإن ميندي يُعد أحد العناصر الأساسية في المشروع الرياضي للأهلي، ويحظى بثقة كبيرة داخل النادي، في ظل المستويات التي قدمها منذ انضمامه إلى صفوف الفريق، إلى جانب دوره القيادي وخبرته الكبيرة، ما يجعله من الركائز التي يعول عليها الجهاز الفني في الاستحقاقات القادمة.
وبذلك يغلق الأهلي الباب أمام أي احتمالات لرحيل ميندي خلال فترة الانتقالات، مع استمرار الحارس السنغالي في حماية عرين الفريق حتى نهاية عقده في 2028.
وكان الأهلي قد أعلن في ديسمبر 2025 تجديد عقد ميندي حتى عام 2028، بعد أن كان عقده السابق يقترب من نهايته، في خطوة عكست تمسك النادي بخدمات الحارس الدولي السنغالي.
وانضم ميندي إلى الأهلي في صيف 2023 قادماً من تشيلسي الإنجليزي، قبل أن يصبح أحد أبرز عناصر الفريق، ويسهم في تحقيق عدد من المنجزات، أبرزها دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة وكأس السوبر السعودي، فيما عزز حضوره داخل غرفة الملابس مكانته بوصفه أحد قادة الفريق.
Sources informed “Okaz” that the management of Al-Ahli Club is committed to keeping the international Senegalese goalkeeper Edouard Mendy with the first football team until the end of his contract, which extends to 2028, confirming that there is no intention to part ways with the team captain in the upcoming period.
According to the sources, Mendy is considered one of the key elements in Al-Ahli’s sports project and enjoys great confidence within the club, given the performances he has delivered since joining the team, along with his leadership role and extensive experience, making him one of the pillars that the coaching staff relies on for the upcoming challenges.
Thus, Al-Ahli closes the door on any possibilities for Mendy’s departure during the transfer period, with the Senegalese goalkeeper continuing to guard the team’s goal until the end of his contract in 2028.
Al-Ahli had announced in December 2025 the renewal of Mendy’s contract until 2028, after his previous contract was nearing its end, in a move that reflected the club’s commitment to the services of the international Senegalese goalkeeper.
Mendy joined Al-Ahli in the summer of 2023 from Chelsea in England, before becoming one of the standout players on the team and contributing to achieving several accomplishments, most notably the AFC Champions League and the Saudi Super Cup, while his presence in the dressing room has solidified his status as one of the team leaders.
